'48 Hours' A theater actor gives 'Killer Performance' after double murder

"48 Hours" (CBS) can be seen each Saturday evening at 10/9 p.m. It aired at 9 p.m. (central time) in Albuquerque, NM on KRQE 13. Saturday's episode on Oct. 8, 2016 was called, "Killer Performance." In the overnight TV ratings it garnered 4.05 million TV viewers overall. It reached 0.6 million TV viewers in the all important 18 to 49 adult demographic. “Saturday night college football" (ABC) grabbed 5.15 overall & 1.6 with adults (8-11 p.m.). “SNL Vintage" (NBC) nabbed 1.99 overall & 0.5 with adults (repeat).

"48 Hours" is an investigative program that covers crime & murder in the United States. Saturday's episode was reported and narrated by Tracy Smith.

“Killer Performance.” Julie Kibuishi was shot dead in Sam Herr's apartment. Police assumed Sam was her killer who went on the run. Investigators traced his bank card to a teen who was mentored by Daniel Wozniak. He was a theater actor who tried to frame Sam with Julie's murder. Sam was found dead too and his body was dismembered. Daniel confessed to both murders and his fiance' Rachel Buffet was accused as an accessory after-the-fact. She was an actress too who later claimed her innocence on the “Dr. Phil” TV show. The Prosecutor believed she knew more than what she claimed.

Daniel was convicted and received the death penalty. The prosecutor mentioned that “Hollywood” couldn't write this kind of diabolical story. Why? Daniel nailed his performance in a theater musical the day he shot and killed Sam. He also said that he laughed when he dismembered Sam.

'The Birth of a Nation' 1831 slave uses Bible for rebellion and freedom

THE BIRTH OF A NATION from FOX SEARCH LIGHT. According to "Box Office Mojo" that tracks box office theater receipts. "Nation" grabbed $7 million in ticket sales over its' opening weekend. The production budget climbed to $10 million. Fox Searchlight bought the distribution rights for $17.5 million.  Critics are saying the film halted ticket buyers after the 1999 rape allegations surfaced of its' star Nate Parker. I bought advance tickets and went to see it last Friday evening. It looks to break even and/or surpass the $10 million mark next weekend.

"Nation" is based on the true story of Nat Turner who led a slave rebellion back in 1831 that killed 60 White family members. Nat grew up to become a literate slave who preached the words from the Bible. He is asked to preach to other slaves and see's the degradation of his people. He uses the Bible to seek inspiration to rise up and lead a rebellion to freedom. Just like "Moses" who asks God, "Why haven't you heard the cries of your people in bondage."  Nat was later killed along with 200 other black slaves.

Nate Parker served as co-writer, director and lead actor in "Nation." It certainly was his moment to shine as Nat Turner because it was his journey. Parker may receive an Oscar nomination as Best Actor. Turner's belief in God and words from the Bible gave him purpose. He was destined, it seems, to lead that rebellion. It was for freedom that every slave dreampt of, but only for a brief moment. It was very powerful. The supporting cast were just that, "supporting." Jackie Earl-Haley was impressive though and so was Armie Hammer.

Hawaii Five-0” stars, Alex O'Loughlin (Steve McGarrett), Daniel Dae Kim (Chin Ho Kelly), Grace Park (Kono Kalakaua), Scott Caan (Danny Williams), Masi Oka (Max Bergman) & Chi McBride (Lou Grover).

“He Moho Hou.” A behavioral analyst woke up and found a dead man in her bed. A serial killer is still on the loose. He leaves a chess-set piece inside the mouth's of his dead victims. That killer knows the analyst gave information to Steve. She is now part of a killing game. Meanwhile, a DEA agent fell through a roof after being shot inside an airplane. A witness on the ground was also shot with the same gun. “Five-0” finds a parachute the killer used to jump from the plane. What kind of cover up is this?
