2002 Justin Wolfe Trial - Larry Morris AP)

Justin Wolfe was a suburban teen who amassed $100,000 selling high grade "chronic" marijuana in one year. His friend Daniel Petrole was his marijuana supplier who was shot 9 times to death in March of 2001. Police found $140,000 & 46 pounds of marijuana worth $200,000 in Daniel's home.

Owen Garber was the gunman & he implicated Justin as the mastermind behind Daniel's killing. Owen got 38 years in return for testifying against Justin who got the death penalty. Owen later said Justin wasn't involved who spent 10 years on death row.

A judge overturned Justin's conviction in 2011 on the basis that prosecutors held out important testimony & facts. A new prosecutor will re-try Justin on the same charges from 2001 in 2014.

(Roscoe took ideas of the shooting & drugs in his last screenplay "Tribal Cop." He uses ideas from crime to create new situations & native characters in his stories).
