'Edge of Darkness' BBC TV 1985 'Breakthrough'

EDGE OF DARKNESS from BBC TV (1985). The fourth episode is called, “Breakthrough.”

The second man they called, “McCroon” had been watching inspector Ronald Craven. It turns out that he was the one who shot Emma who stepped in front of Ronald. He used to be an informant while sitting in prison. Ronald tried to use him, but McCroon ended up heading back to prison for 10 years. He had gotten past the police who were protecting Ronald. A sharp-shooter killed him before he could gun down Ronald.

“Pendleton” and several of his men find a woman’s dead body in a lake. She is tested for radioactivity. It turns out that she was part of the group that Emma was involved with. The local official had turned out to be a U.S., representative from Kansas. He wants to buy the nuclear waste facility, “Northmoor.”

Ronald finds a book that has a list of bus stations in it. He is led inside a bus terminal that has state of the art computers (1985). A password is hacked and it turns out that McCroon was hired to kill Emma. The others from her environmental group all died under mysterious circumstances. Northmoor was used as a place to store plutonium. Other countries besides the U.S., want that plutonium illegally. Who is behind the killings?
