SAG-AFTRA Foundation L.A. short film showcase deadline Feb. 8, 2016

The SAG-AFTRA Foundation is now accepting submissions from filmmakers residing in all states west of the Mississippi for its April 2016 Los Angeles Short Film Showcase. Submission deadline is Monday, February 8, 2016.

If you submitted to the SAG-AFTRA Foundation New York showcase, you are ineligible to submit to the Los Angeles showcase. / Web-series produced under a union contract are also eligible for consideration. Please submit only ONE episode.  / There is no entry fee, nor is there a cost to attend the screening, which is held in Los Angeles, twice a year.

All shorts MUST be produced under a SAG-AFTRA Short Film, SAG-AFTRA Student Agreement or SAG-AFTRA New Media contract, not run more than 20 minutes, including credits – no exceptions, and be completed films. Previous submitted films are eligible for re-submission.

The showcase is open to all types of cinematic expression, and is designed to encourage union members, and others, to create their own projects. In addition to the screening, the evening includes a Q&A with the directors and producers, and an opportunity to network with those in attendance.

The Foundation is no longer taking submissions by mail.

Filmmakers must provide project’s SAG-AFTRA production number, and state in which they reside, in the cover letter portion of the submission.  If the short film was created when the filmmaker was a student at USC, UCLA, Chapman or AFI then the submission does not need a production number. Please make a note of the school affiliation in the cover letter with the submission.

The SAG-AFTRA Foundation is accepting shorts from filmmakers currently residing from the following states: Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Washington & Wyoming.
